Extractions

Even if you practice the best home care, you may still end up needing a tooth removed. If extraction becomes necessary, we will take every precaution to ensure your comfort and satisfaction.

Before scheduling your procedure, we will discuss options such as sedation and medication. There are many options available to increase your comfort and lower anxiety on the day of your appointment. We honor your preferences to ensure the smoothest procedure possible, even for more complex extractions.

To give you an idea of what to expect during your extraction appointment, here is a list of the steps we take during a typical procedure:

  • If you decide to use sedation medication, you will take it prior to the appointment.

  • Once you’re in the dental chair, we use modern anesthetics to numb the area.

  • After the anesthesia takes effect, we use specially designed tools to lift the tooth from its socket.

  • After your appointment, we provide specific home care instructions to aid in the healing process. We can also provide prescription medications if necessary.

After your extraction, we will create a long-term plan for replacing the missing teeth.

You can always leave the gap unfilled, but doing so may present long-term esthetic and functional challenges.

When you have a gap in your smile, the surrounding teeth will slowly shift into the open space. A gap may also cause an imbalance in your bite, which can impact eating ability and alignment. We will discuss all options to avoid such complications and keep your smile as healthy as possible.

If extraction becomes necessary, know that the River's End Dental team has your back. Our ultimate goal is to honor your preferences and restore the health, function, and beauty of your smile.
